Ääntämis- ja kuullunymmärtämispäivä tänään! Teimme kuuntelutehtävän Bad weather (task 11) sekä ääntämisharjoitukset 12 ja 13 (Mary’s cat). Kotitehtävät 8B, 9 ja 10 tarkistettiin myös. Lisää relatiivilauseita pronomineineen voi rakennella täällä. Syyslomalla on aikaa tehdä kotitehtäviäkin, joita ovat 14A ja B sekä vapaaehtoisena C erilliselle paperille open tarkastettavaksi. Terms like cohabiting, separated, engaged were discussed, and also statements like Blood is thicker than water, Children should be seen but not heard, Keep your friends close and enemies closer. There was also some family idioms: It runs in the family, the black sheep of the family, one’s own flesh and blood. If you’d like to learn more, check out this link. ENGLANTIA EPÄRÖIVILLE – ENGLISH IN THE MORNING
Listening exercises this week. We listened to some travel news (exercises 4 and 5), and did a gap-fill exercise based on the listening (6). We also discussed causes for some problem situations (task 7), like a cancelled flight or a traffic jam. Try out this crossword puzzle for fun, if there’s nothing else to do during the mid-term break!

This week we discussed emails: how to start and an email, both formal and informal. Then we talked about jobs: Which jobs are the best/worst for meeting people, tasks, hours of work, salary? More jobs here.
ENGLANTIA KESKITASOLLE PÄIVÄLLÄ
We checked excercise 7, Excuses, and then there was a listening comprehension exercise You can make a difference (9). In Environmental issues (10) we learned a lot of new vocabulary. More words about sustainable development here (NB! Rather a challenge, this one…). For homework, 11 and 12. The new chapter was called Breaking news, and we talked about You and the news (1).
