ENGLANTI 6
Lukuharjoittelimme tekstiä Happy anniversary ja tarkistimme harjoituksen 2. Kieliopista käsiteltiin indefiniittipronomineja sivuilta 88-89, ja niitä voi alkaa harjoitella täällä. Sanastoa ja rakenteita kerrattiin haastattelemalla paria lomasuunnitelmista ja vähän muustakin. Parin kanssa treenattiin myös dialogia sivulla 86, ja talven tulemiseen virittäydyttiin Let It Snow -laulun tunnelmissa. Varsinaisia kirjoitustehtäviä ei tullut, joten nyt on hyvä tilaisuus kerrata ja opiskella uusia sanoja.
NOW WE ARE TALKING!
This week the theme was Animals and humans. Is it true that people become like the animals they keep? We chose the right animal for the Prime Minister, me, our best friends and favourite actors. If you were a dog, which breed would you be and why? We also learned about regimental goats, especially Shenkin IV, the mascot of the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Wales. Watch here Billy, the goat of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Wales, perform his royal duty with troops marching behind him. Then, animals mascots were chosen for national associations of racing drivers (cheetah!), builders, teachers, plumbers (mole!), hair dressers (poodle!), etc. Theme continued next time.
ENGLANTIA EPÄRÖIVILLE – ENGLISH IN THE MORNING
This time we ”stayed” in a hotel and leaned phrases for e.g. reporting problems. We also listened to Bob Hands, who spends more then 200 nights a year in hotels. Theme continued next week. If you’d like to learn more, watch this video.
KEEP UP YOUR ENGLISH
Riddles with parts of body were solved today (What has teeth but cannot eat?); find more here. The rest of the lesson was spent discussing various topics as presented by an Internet conversation generator.
SPEAK ENGLISH EASILY
Today we learned some expressions to say when something happened (in March, on Tuesday, the other day, last year, when I was young) and discussed some things we did last, like going on a journey or seeing an amazing view. Find an excercise here. There were two stories about people who have made world records with their amazing achievements. Watch here James Cameron make the dive into Mariana Trench. We also learned words to express feelings (guilty, exhausted, confused…)
ENGLANTIA PERUSTASOLTA ETEENPÄIN
Tarkistimme käännösharjoituksen (task 12) sekä What’s the word -tehtävän (task 13). Lisäksi opiskelimme suomalaisten ruokalajien nimityksiä (whipped lingonberry pudding, French toast, quark, etc.) sekä teimme kuuntelutehtävän In a Finnish restaurant (task 10 c). Ulkomaalaisille vieraille annettiin ohjeita siitä, miten suomalaisia ruokia syödään; New potatoes can be served with pickled herring (task 11A). Kotitehtäväksi 11 B. Tässä vielä yksi passiiviharjoitus.
PRATA PÅ – RUOTSIA RUPATELLEN
Svenska dagen’in kunniaksi, hiukan myöhässä tosin, opiskelimme sananlaskuja ruotsiksi. Niitä on tässä linkissä lisää. Jatkoimme teemaa ”Arbete” kertailemalla ammatteja ja leikkimällä Vad har jag för yrke -leikkiä. Lisäksi sepitimme tarinoita kuvien henkilöiden ammateista. Teema jatkuu ensi viikolla.
